The family of a Corkman who was hospitalised after an alleged 'one-punch' attack in Sydney have confirmed he has woken from his coma.
29-year-old Jason Cierans had been in an induced coma since the assault in Bondi Junction on the 22nd of August.
Mr Cierans is believed to have suffered a serious head injury, causing swelling of the brain.
His parents and younger brother have been holding a bedside vigil.
Following reports earlier this week that Mr Casey had woken up, Mr Casey's aunt Fidelma Casey confirmed to Red FM that that was the case, and the family's "relief is unbelievable".
Argentinian national Adrian Gabriel Martinez has been charged with recklessly causing grievously bodily harm in a row over jumping a queue.
Mr Martinez appeared in court last month and was granted bail, with the matter set to return to court in October
