The wife of Graham Dwyer has identified a spade, found close to Elaine O'Hara's remains in the Dublin mountains, as one that had been missing from her garden.

Gemma Dwyer has been giving evidence at the 42 year old architect's trial for the murder of the childcare worker in August 2012.

During her evidence for the prosecution Gemma Dwyer was shown a photo of a spade found at Killakee near where Elaine O'Hara's skeletal remains were found in September 2013.

She said she recognised splashes of paint on the spade and that it had been missing from her garden all summer.

She said she used it to clean up the neighbour's dog mess and she had remarked on his absence to her husband Graham.

Dwyer is alleged to have been in a BDSM relationship with childcare worker Elaine O'Hara and to have stabbed her to death for his own sexual gratification.

The jury heard he wrote a letter this time last year to his wife in which he said he'd not been entirely honest with her, that he'd known the girl, she'd committed suicide and another man into Real Madrid and pink underwear had disposed of items for her.

Gemma Dwyer also told the Central Criminal Court her husband used to attend his model aeroplane club on Wednesday afternoons.

However she said she has no specific recollection of Wednesday August 22nd 2012, the day the architect is alleged to have stabbed Elaine O'Hara to death in the Dublin mountains.

The 36 year old's remains were found on September 13th the following year.

Ms Dwyer said she doesn't recall her husband reacting to the news.

She said the date has significance because it's her and Graham's birthday and they celebrated it that year by eating out in a Mexican restaurant.

Earlier today the trial has heard diary entries were found on Elaine O'Hara's laptop where she said she felt angry, sad and lonely and had an urge to self-harm.

Architect Graham Dwyer of Kerrymount Close, Foxrock denies murdering the childcare worker at Killakee Mountain in Dublin in August 2012.

DG Brid Wallace resumed giving evidence of the forensic analysis she carried out on Elaine O'Hara's laptops - an Apple MacBook and a blue HP Compaq.

She revealed computer diary entries from November 2010 complaining of feeling angry, sad and lonely and describing an urge to self harm.

The detective said Elaine O'Hara appears to have had two or probably three profiles on the S&M web site alt.com - including subOrslaveforyou and helpmelearn.

The jury also heard a user of Elaine O'Hara's laptop searched for 'women hanging', and 'woman stabbing' on the website bestgore.com.

The prosecution alleges Graham Dwyer had a BDSM relationship with Elaine O'Hara and that he stabbed her for his own sexual gratification.
