Dublin City University has signed a deal to buy All Hallows college.

It follows months of negotiation over the 6.74 hectare site in Drumcondra.

The Catholic college was put on the market last year and began a wind-down of its academic operations after it was announced it would need a major injection of cash to survive.

The agreement with DCU will secure the educational mission of the campus and allow existing students to complete their studies.
