Most of you may have seen Barcelona right back Daniel Alves dealing brilliantly with a racist incident during yesterday's 3 - 2 win at Villarreal.

When a banana was thrown on the field, the Brazilian simply picked it up and ate it, sending out a message that any racist behaviour from the crowd would not get to him.

After the match, he continued to make light of the incident:

"I don't know who it was, but thanks to whoever threw the banana, the potassium gave me the energy for the two crosses which led to a goal," he said, having played a key role in the lead up to the two Villarreal own goals.

"I have been living in Spain for 11 years, and for 11 years I've been laughing at these morons."

Alves has garnered plenty of praise for the way in which he dealt with the incident.

Neymar and Off The Ball regular Gabriele Marcotti had their say on the matter in the aftermath of the incident:

Meanwhile in another racism controversy, NBA team LA Clippers held a silent protest against their owner, Donald Sterling, before their playoff game yesterday.

It has been claimed that Sterling been recorded asking a woman not to bring African-American people to games.

US president Barack Obama called the alleged comments "incredibly offensive".

The Clippers turned their shirts inside out to hide their logo before match four of their play-off against Golden State Warriors.
