A permanent driving and parking ban on Dollymount beach is to be lifted for disabled people and clubs who regularly use the beach.

The ban has been put in place to stop cars from driving onto the popular Dublin beachfront for health and safety reasons.

However older people and people with disabilities are finding it difficult to get from the set-down area to the sea front.

Dublin City Council has said it will facilitate individuals and organisations who are struggling to access the beach by lifting the ban in certain cases.

In August, a temporary ban on cars driving on to the beach was made permanent by Dublin City Council.
