The jury at the trial of a 43-year-old woman charged with assisting the suicide of another, heard the last recorded words of the deceased in court today.

Gail O'Rorke from Kilclare Gardens in Tallaght, Dublin is charged with 3 counts of aiding and abetting the suicide of Berndatte Forde from April 20th and June 6th 2011 inclusively.

A tape recording of the last words of 51-year-old Bernadette Forde were played out in court where the deceased explains how she couldn't live with MS anymore and that failing her ability in getting to the Dignitas hospice in Switzerland, she had acquired a toxic substance from Mexico which could end her life.

She said after her experience with Dignitas, she didn't want to implicate anyone or get anyone in trouble.

Ms O'Rorke denies she attempted to aid and abet the suicide of Ms Forde by means of attempting to arrange travel to Zurich or by helping procure or administer a toxic substance at a location in Dublin.

Prosecuting Council Remy Farrell asked the jury to make their decision based upon the law and to disregard any personal opinions they have about assisted suicide.

The trial is due to last two weeks.

Shona Murray spoke to Jonathan Healy on Lunchtime today about the hearings:
