Egyptian authorities have conducted the first execution over the violence that followed Mohammed Morsi's overthrow in 2013.

Mahmoud Ramadam, a supporter of Morsi who was convicted of murder, was hanged today.

The conviction related to his involvement in the throwing of two youth from a rooftop in Alexandria. Footage of the incident, in which one of the youths died, was widely broadcast in the country at the time.
