A lot of people will have a lot of fun at Electric Picnic over the weekend - but spare a thought for the workers behind the party...

It takes the crew over 9,600 man hours to get the site ready for the the festival which was given permission to increase its capacity from 42,000 to 47,000 for this year's event.

The first Electric Picnic in 2004 only had a capacity of 15,000 - when you add in the festival staff there'll be more people on the grounds of Stradbally than the total population of Waterford City.

19km of festoon lighting is set up to help you find your way around, using a total of 3,800 light bulbs.

5,000 people work on putting the festival together.

Powering the site involves a massive operation - 13MW of power used over the weekend, channeled through 92.5km of electronic cabling.

Electric Picnic uses the same amount of power that 39,000 average people do during an entire year.

Just setting up all that power takes 3,424 man hours, or 428 full working days.

Every Can Counts will be down at the campsite recycling cans - they collected 80,000 last year.

Over 80 traders will be offering food - Kinara Kitchen say that if they stacked all the Naan bread that they sell on top of each other it would reach 20 floors.

They'll also go through 5,000 chickens, 100kg of rice, and 1km of lamb shish over the course of the weekend.

11 Newstalk shows will be recording in the Newstalk Lounge in the Mindfield, make sure you stop by!

The event is sold out, but there is a very active secondary market. There are some horror stories of touts charging extortionate prices, but €250 seems to be the going-rate with people who are genuinely trying to get rid of extra tickets.

But be careful with your cash - the promoters have warned that there's a lot of fake tickets out there.
