Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes in the Philippines as Typhoon Hagupit threatens to make landfall overnight.
Emergency services are preparing for what is expected to be the strongest typhoon to hit the country since Typhoon Haiyan killed over 6,000 and displaced more than 4m people in November 2013.
It is on course for the Eastern and Northern Samar provinces and the city of Tacloban with gusts of up to 230 kilometres per hour already recorded.
