Mian Shaheed did not object to an extradition order in the High Court this morning, and consented to his surrender to the UK authorities.

A European arrest warrant was issued for the 22 year old in April - after he was convicted in his absence for sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman by Stafford Crown Court, and sentenced to two and half years in prison.

It is believed Mr Shahid first fled to Scotland before coming to Ireland earlier this year, - and had been last seen in the Foynes area of Limerick in early August.

On Monday night, Mr Shahid was on board a flight bound for Dubai when he was arrested as the plane was just about to leave Dublin airport.

This morning in the High Court Mr Shahid asked that he be returned to Britain as soon as possible.

A standard extradition order cannot take effect for 15 days, after which Mr Shahid will be returned to the UK.

Judge Raymond Fullam granted the extradition order, and agreed to an application for legal aid.
