Relatives of four of the victims of the Berkeley balcony collapse have thanked the public for their support.

The families have also appealed for time and space for the young people to recover.

Aoife Beary, Clodagh Cogley, Niall Murray and Hannah Waters are all being treated for their injuries in a hospital in Santa Clara in the US.

In a joint statement, their families say they hope they will be able to make their way home in the coming weeks and months, but also warn the 'road to recovery is far from straight'.

Young people who helped victims at the scene in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy last month are also remembered in the comments, with the families saying they are 'so grateful' for what they did and are continuing to do.

But the relatives of the four survivors say their 'constant thoughts and prayers' are with the families of the six young people who lost their lives on the night of June 16th - Eimear Walsh, Ashley Donohoe, Olivia Burke, Niccolai Schuster, Lorcán Miller and Eoghan Culligan.
