Former TMZ presenter Peter O'Riordan will be joining the presenting team on TV3’s Xposé starting in September.

The 30-year-old Cork native made the news earlier this year when he told the LA-based celebrity news channel that Beyoncé and Jay Z were left alone during their visit to Ireland because Irish people probably didn't know who they were.

The Cork native defended his comments after a torrent of abuse on Twitter, writing, "Just for the record anyone in Ireland that wants to come at me, watch the video and educate yourself first!

"Know this, I don't have creative control or editing power with TMZ so I can be made out that I'm saying something I'm not. Notice the camera didn't come back onto me to have the opportunity to defend. I'm the proudest Irish person on the map and there are plenty of people that will back me up on that. I don’t edit the TV show, nor can I speak for any of my co-workers or my boss. Slán go fóil."

As the big reveal at today's launch he said he hopes his appointment didn’t disappoint TV3’s viewers:

An Irish Blind Date with Lucy Kennedy, another series of Keith Barry's Brain Hacker and a new Saturday night quiz show hosted by Brian Dowling are all set to be included in the channel’s autumn schedule.
