Apple announced two new iPhones last week - the 6 and the 6 Plus, both larger than any previous iPhone model. While there seems to be more iPhone critics than ever, pre-order figures reveal that the iPhone brand remains extremely popular.

Apple has revealed that four million iPhone 6s were pre-ordered in the first 24 hours. It compares to only two million pre-orders for the iPhone 5 in 2012 (there were no figures released for last year's iPhone 5c and 5s models). The company says pre-order supply supplies have already been exceeded, and some phones will not be delivered until October.

The phones will launch in the US and several other territories this Friday, with some supplies available for walk-in customers.

The new phones will be available in Ireland from September 26th. While individual retailers and networks will likely be offering deals for those on contracts, the new iPhones are an expensive proposition - for an unlocked phone on Apple's website, prices start at €699 for a 16GB 4.7" iPhone 6, up to €999 for a 128GB 5.5" iPhone 6 Plus.

You can read more about the iPhone 6 here. The new phones will work with the Apple Watch, which was also announced last week.
