The father of Wicklow boy Gavin Glynn has been paying tribute to his son's doctors in the US.

Four-year-old Gavin underwent surgery lasting more than 11 hours in Texas this week. Surgeons removed two massive tumours from his body without having to remove any of Gavin's organs.

Over €350,000 had been raised to fund the cancer treatment, with the fundraising campaign having gained significant attention through social media.

Gavin is now recovering in intensive care.

Gavin's dad John has said he believes his son has the "best chance" now. He explained that the doctors are in no rush to send Gavin home, as they want to make sure they get rid of the cancer "once and for all":

Posting on Facebook from Houston after the surgery earlier this week, the Glynns wrote: "We really believe what has happened today is a miracle and it is down to everyone's prayers and positive thoughts being answered for Gavin and the medical team involved, for that we cannot thank everyone enough."
