Real Madrid sneaked past newly-promoted Elche in last night's La Liga action.
But they needed a 96th minute penalty to get all three points.
Real Madrid had taken the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo's free-kick but Elche equalised in injury time.
It looked like Elche would record a famous draw when the referee stepped in with a strange decision.
On 96 minutes, Real Madrid won a corner. Real Madrid defender Pepe and Elche's Carlos Sanchez were pulling at each other in the box as the ball came in.
Then Pepe pulled Sanchez to the floor - and astonishingly it was Real Madrid who were given the penalty kick. Judge for yourself but it is fairly clear that Pepe (No 3) is the man at fault:
Ronaldo converted and that prompted angry responses from Elche. Their captain Albacar simply described it as "robbery".
But the decision also offended Barcelona defender Gerard Pique who knows every point that Real Madrid gains will be vital at the end of the season.
He tweeted this while watching the game live on Canal Plus Liga:
Viendo una película de humor por el Canal + Liga.. Siempre va bien a estas horas de la noche!
— Gerard Piqué (@3gerardpique) September 25, 2013
That roughly translates as "I'm watching a comedy film on Canal Plus Liga ...comedy is always great at this time of night".
Real Madrid defender and Spain team-mate Carlos Arbeloa hit back via the same medium:
Muy contentos con los 3 puntos! Me alegro de que algunos cambien el teatro por el cine, eso siempre esta bien! pic.twitter.com/a1HR3pri8G
— Álvaro Arbeloa (@aarbeloa17) September 25, 2013
He said: "Delighted with the three points! I'm also happy that some people have started watching cinema instead of theatre." That seemed to be a subtle dig at Barcelona's reputation for diving.
It has long been rumoured that Arbeloa and Real team-mate Xabi Alonso are isolated within the Spain setup after a number of heated El Clasicos.
