Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez has missed out on a place in the Germany World Cup squad.

The centre-forward has struggled with a serious knee injury this season, while Ilkay Gundogan's persistent back problems also see the Borussia Dortmund midfielder miss out on selection for the 30-man extended panel.

However Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has been included as he returns to first team action just in time, following a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Four Premier League players are included in the panel, with the Arsenal trio of Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski and Chelsea's Andre Schurrle making the cut.

The Germans are in Group G for the tournament in Brazil along with Ghana, Portugal and the United States and the 30-man squad will be reduced by seven names by the time the World Cup kicks off next month.

Full provisional squad:

Manuel Neuer, Roman Weidenfeller, Ron-Robert Zieler; Jerome Boateng, Erik Durm, Kevin Grosskreutz, Benedikt Hoewedes, Mats Hummels, Marcell Jansen, Philipp Lahm, Per Mertesacker, Shkodran Mustafi, Marcel Schmelzer; Lars Bender, Julian Draxler, Matthias Ginter, Leon Goretzka, Mario Gotze, Andre Hahn, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos, Max Meyer, Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski, Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle, Bastian Schweinsteiger; Miroslav Klose, Kevin Volland
