David Gillick has announced his retirement from athletics.

The Dubliner was twice European indoor 400 metre champion and also competed at the Olympics.

He also reached a World championship semi-final and holds the national 400 metre record.

Gillick has will maintain an involvement in sport, lining out for Dublin championship side Ballinteers St John's.
