Hamas is said to have killed 11 people suspected of being informers for Israel.

A security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the 11 were killed at the Gaza City police headquarters following sentencing by Gaza courts.

The claims have also been reported by Al Rai and Al Majd, two websites linked to Hamas.

Israel's intelligence services rely, in part, on informers to pinpoint the whereabouts of Hamas leaders.

The killings come a day after Israel killed three top Hamas commanders in an airstrike on a house in southern Gaza Strip.

The men were named as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum.

They were killed along with three others at a house in the southern town of Rafah, Hamas said.

Medics claim the most recent Israeli airstrikes killed four Palestinians. It is reported a house and an area of open farmland were struck.

Violence resumed in Gaza following the collapses of peace talks in Egypt between Israel and Hamas earlier this week.

Palestinian officials say more than 2,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in the fighting.

Israel says it has killed hundreds of Palestinian militants in the conflict, which the United Nations says has displaced about 425,000 people.

64 Israeli soldiers and three civilians in Israel have been killed.

Yesterday a protest outside the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin heard calls on the Minister Charlie Flanagan to expel the Israeli ambassador over the Gaza conflict
