England manager Roy Hodgson has named a youthful squad for this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Everton's Ross Barkley, Liverpool's Raheem Sterling and Southampton's highly-rated left-back Luke Shaw have been included.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has been deemed fit despite injuring his shoulder against Hull City, while Frank Lampard is the oldest player in the squad at 35. He is one of four 30-somethings in the panel.

The average of the squad is 24.6 and includes four strikers, seven defenders and nine midfielders.

Liverpool are best represented in terms of numbers with five players, with captain Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Glen Johnson, Raheem Sterling, and Daniel Sturridge given the nod.

Full-back Jon Flanagan has also been included on the seven strong standby list alongside Norwich keeper John Ruddy, Everton youngster John Stones, Manchester United midfielders Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverley, Toronto striker Jermain Defoe and West Ham centre-forward Andy Carroll.

England are in Group D alongside Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica this summer.
