Hoteliers are hitting out at plans by Aer Lingus cabin crew to hold a one day strike on Friday May 30th in a row over rosters.

Cabin crew members will place pickets at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports for the duration of the stoppage.

Impact trade union says their members are getting just one day off in 13 and are exhausted at work. Members had voted 97% in favour in favour of the industrial action last week.

The union claims that cabin crew can currently work up to 60 hours in a seven day period, and want a roster similar to those for pilots at the airline - of five work days followed by three rest days.

In a statement, the airline said "This threatened industrial action is completely unwarranted. We continue to engage in discussions with the trade union on the rostering issues in dispute".

"It is unacceptable that the trade union has chosen to threaten disruption to customers travel plans in pursuit of roster arrangements, which have such cost implications for our business, that they are simply undeliverable" it added.

Allen Flynn from the Flynn Hotel Group told Newstalk Breakfast that this industrial action will have a devastating impact on the tourism sector. He is pleading with both sides in the dispute to sit down and talk.
