19-year-old Oisín Merritt has awoken from a month long coma and some of his worst words to his sister were, 'How are Brazil doing in the World Cup?'.

Merritt has been in a coma for a month after he fell from the balcony of an apartment in popular holiday destination Santa Ponsa. 

The football fan's condition was critical at one stage, sparking a massive online campaign wishing the young man well when he showed no signs of improvement.

Merritt has been eating and drinking since yesterday afternoon and some of the first words he spoke to his sister were about Brazil's standing in the World Cup as he had a bet placed on them before the accident.
