While Greece have become regular qualifiers for major competitions since winning Euro 2004, their domestic game is in turmoil with Panathanaikos' financial woes and the relegation of AEK Athens.

On the pitch, star striker Kostas Mitroglou has had a difficult six months since joining Fulham in January and the country's most promising defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos has endured a horrific few months of injuries which sees him miss the World Cup.

To look ahead to Greece's chances of emerging from a tough group featuring Japan, Ivory Coast and Colombia, I spoke to Skai Radio Greece's Gerard Papasimakopoulos who told me why he does not expect Greece to reach the last-16, how Greece struggle against a certain type of team and also detailed the other issues facing the side.
