The forthcoming biographical picture centres on the rapper-and-actor’s former hip-hop crew N.W.A., which was also comprised of Dr. Dre and the late Eazy E.

The band made musical history after the release of their 1988 album Straight Outta Compton, but Ice insists the movie won’t focus on music.

"We just tryin' to tell the story of the world's most dangerous group," he told MTV News.

"We're trying to tell aspects of our lives that people don't know about, people aren't privy to."

Many honour N.W.A., who hail from Compton, California, as the group responsible for spearheading the West Coast gangster rap movement.

Although Ice won’t reveal script details, he does note that the group’s native city takes on much narrative significance in the feature.

"The neighborhood influenced N.W.A, and then N.W.A influenced the neighborhood," he noted. "That's what we're trying to portray."

Straight Outta Compton will be directed by Friday helmer F. Gary Gray. Ice confirms casting for the project will begin on January 8 and the picture is due for release in 2015.

Ice is currently promoting his and American comedian Kevin Hart’s new buddy cop comedy Ride Along.

During a Reddit AMA discussion about their new film, the musician-turned-thespian revealed a third sequel to his 1995 cult comedy classic Friday is facing major studio obstacles.

“The next Friday movie is caught up in development hell at New Line Cinema. Pray that we get it outta there,” he said of Friday 4.

Ride Along will be released later on this month.
