Petty behaviour has reached new heights as a Los Angeles-based insurance company decided to pay a settlement by delivering over 16 buckets full of coins, totalling $21,000 (€15,700).

76 year-old Andres Carrasco, filed a suit against Adriana's Insurance two years ago, claiming that an employee of the company had assaulted him. A settlement was recently agreed, but Carrasco's joy was short-lived.

Speaking to local CBS News, his solicitor said: "There’s over 16 buckets of quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies. It’s going to take us at least, conservatively, one week to count that whole amount of money."

Carrasco himself said that the coins were "too heavy" given his health.

The insurance company has declined to comment to the media.
