John Kierans, the editor of newspaper The Irish Mirror, told Newstalk Breakfast he regretted printing the ‘paparazzi’ photographs of broadcaster Sharon Ní Bheoláin amid her stalker ordeal:Yesterday it was reported many tabloid newspapers, including The Irish Mirror, printed pictures of the RTE news broadcaster walking her dog on Sunday. Some of the papers criticized Ms Ní Bheoláin for wearing pyjama bottoms.
The broadcaster was secretly photographed just days after news broke she had been the victim of an alleged stalker who had sent her explicit emails.
The broadcaster spoke out yesterday about the photographs telling RTE’s Liveline, “I was probably more upset this morning seeing those photographs than I have been at any stage over the previous six weeks."However, editor of the Irish Sun Paul Clarkson says the freelance photographer who took the pictures was standing on the street, not 'hiding in the bushes'.
And he says he's worked with Sharon before on some of her charity work, and she should be aware she's a public figure:
