Tuesday on Moncrieff means getting the low down on the download, as Darragh Doyle, Irish Twitter phenom, takes learner driver Sean on a journey on the information super highway. Here's what they got through today:

  • An opening video of Irish slurs

Irish people explaining Irish insults. Amadán, gobshite, eejit, geebag, cute hoor - how would you explain what these words to someone who is not from Ireland?

Castaway Media are producing a range of podcasts that can be listened to from their website site. There are a range of podcasts that can be heard, from the Pod-a-rooney with comedian Joe Rooney, to one called the Fizzy Pop Culture Thing with John Byrne and the Not Now Cato podcast, featuring people from the world of start ups, tech and media with interviews by Adrian Carty.

Possibly most famous is the Arsecast podcast, chronicling the highs and lows of the Arsenal Football Team. Andrew Mangan, the man behind Arseblog was probably one of the first financially successful bloggers in Ireland and has devoted a lot of time and commitment to the football team.

He also runs the 738AM podcast, where he interviews a lot of people from the arts and entertainment worlds, including Mark O’Halloran, Jon Ronson, Amanda Brunker, Lenny Abrahamson and Nialler9.

The Castaway network are also inviting ideas from people who could put a show together, so this could be a stepping stone to your big radio career…

  • Dublin Globe

Did you know there are now more than 2,000 tech start-ups in Dublin? And that there are co working spaces, incubators and offices springing up above shops, in warehouses and more recently, in a barge on Grand Canal Basin?

The job of the start-up Commissioner of Dublin is to help facilitate, nurture and promote all of these, to foster a sense of community and to campaign for start-ups. She’s also a driving force behind DublinGlobe.com

Dublin Globe was set up by Niamh’s office to catalogue and celebrate all that is happening in the start-up scene here. They document the Dublin tech ecosystem, from the multinationals to the cream of Dublin’s startup crop, and celebrate those virtual Dubliners who serve as the ambassadors across the globe.

Interestingly, their target audience isn’t as much the Dublin or Irish audience as those abroad who are considering Dublin as a place to locate their business. That’s why Dublin Globe seeks to highlight the successes in Dublin, taking them off the business pages and putting them in front of the audience that needs to see it.

  • Gaze - Long Distance Movie Night

A problem you may not have known you had and a solution you may not know you needed.

Gaze allows two people to watch the same thing at the same time and share a screen and a camera connection. If you don’t have a seperate TV or tablet, you can log on to your computer and into the website, and share a film, video or whatever and watch it while each of you sees the other in a small webcam window in the corner, so you can talk, chat or laugh together.

If, like me, you’re a woeful procrastinator and feel the need to check websites while you work, just in case there’s something new, then Keep Me Out is for you. It sits on your browser and warns you, as per your instructions, if you’re visiting a website too often. A good way of refocussing you on your work.

  • Zen Pen - beautifully clear distraction free writing

Minimal distraction, maximum Zen. Similarly, if you are writing and looking to distract yourself, so you start messing around with fonts, formats, paragraphs and so on, Zen Pen is the website for you. It just gives you a space to type - you can format and link if you need to but takes out many of the buttons you might be pressing just to see if it can make it look better, rather than getting the writing done.

  • Papaly - Links that you liked & shared in Facebook, Google+, YouTube

A really handy service allowing you to save all the links you have bookmarked across a variety of platforms and organise them into what Papally calls 'Boards'.

You can then use these boards to build a collection of bookmarks related to a topic. Maybe a collection of your favorite blogs or blog posts about a subject, or a collection of bookmarks about science and technology.

  • Spend Your Leap Second Here

On June 30th at 11:59:59 PM (UTC), the atomic clocks will add an extra second to the day. Click here to waste that time with a randomly selected, single-second video.

  • Ninite - update all software on your computer in one go

One for the time poor - you can update all the software on your computer to the latest version with just a few clicks. You don't have to watch for updates:

  • start working as soon as you run it
  • not bother you with any choices or options
  • install apps in their default location
  • say no to toolbars or extra junk
  • do all its work in the background
  • install the latest stable version of an app
  • skip up-to-date apps
  • skip any reboot requests from installers
  • download apps from each publisher's official site

Really handy if you’ve needed to reset your computer for any reason or have to buy a new one.

It does exactly what it says in the URL. Do nothing for two minutes but look at the lovely image and listen to the waves. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? But what about that flashing notification or that email sound or the want to check Reddit or the Newstalk website just one more time…?

  • And finally, Scaramouche

Bohemian Rhapsody played by - not on, but by - a 100+ year old fairground organ. An older kind of 'software', using slotted paper to dictate notes. Take that, Kanye.
