Profile
It's almost criminal that an outrageously talented generation of Ivorian footballers never got their hands on any silverware.
From failing to land an African Nations Cup titles and never crossing the group stage barrier at the World Cup up to now, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Didier Zokora, Yaya Toure and co are drinking in the last chance saloon.
The Elephants have been handed are far kinder group than in 2006 and 2010 but will not trample over Japan, Colombia or Greece without a serious fight.
But they will be optimistic about their chances of reaching the last-16 for the first time, with the talents of an in-form Gervinho, Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony to call upon.
