More than 200 Irish students are headed for the Balkan Peninsula this evening as part of a global fundraising challenge.

There's just one catch though - they can't use any of their own money to get there.

Jailbreak 2015 kicked off in Dublin this morning and competitors from eight Irish colleges are currently racing to the Balkans by begging or borrowing their way.

Clues are being released every couple of hours to help them find location 'X', which is somewhere in the Balkans. It has already been announced the location is not in Moldova, Serbia, Romania or Bulgaria

This year's fundraising target for the eight colleges involved is €100,000 and previous winners have reached Sydney and Argentina, all for free. The event is in aid of Amnesty International and the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

They have already earned more than half their fundraising goal.

Ally Kelly is the Jailbreak project manager she told us how the teams are getting on:

You can donate €4 by texting 'jailbreak' to 50300.
