The iconic Kit Kat may be more difficult to decipher in the future as a European court has ruled against Nestle's bid to patent their famous four finger design.
Nestle filed its bid to patent the design in 2010 but it was challenged by rivals Cadbury UK who went against the company's attempts to secure its design.
What it means is that other bars from rival companies can now come to market without fear of being brought to court by Nestle. In theory, we could be seeing a surge of four-finger bars hitting the market in the near future.
The bar's design has remained relatively unchanged since its launch in 1935 and has sold incredibly well in the UK.
Business Insider reports that Nestle will review the decision made by the court.
"Nestlé will review the Advocate General's Opinion with interest and look forward to the full decision of the Court. KIT KAT is much loved and its unique shape, which has been used for 80 years, is well known by consumers," a spokesperson said.
