A Limerick man has picked up a cheque for €500,000 at the National Lottery offices. He won the top prize in the EuroMillions Plus draw last Tuesday night.
"I found out yesterday," he said. "In my mind I thought it was a big prize but I didn't believe it until I called the Lottery and the lady confirmed it was half a million - and I said thank you very much."
The man wishes to remain anonymous.
The winner bought his €3 Quick Pick ticket in Breda Cosgrove's shop, on Hyde Road, Prospect in Limerick.
And he says he has his eye on something special "I'm going to buy a new car - the one I have is grand but I've always wanted a top of the range one."
"I've just been window shopping until now (but) now I can open the door and come in," he added.
Tomorrow night is a guaranteed €100m jackpot in the EuroMillions Super Draw.
