A man carrying a samurai sword and wearing a Friday the 13th-style hockey mask has been arrested by police in north London.

Police spotted the man in Islington early on Friday morning after being called to reports of youth armed with bricks and sticks.

The man in the Jason Voorhees-style mask, who was also carrying a large bag, ran off but was detained after a chase.

The samurai sword was found in the bag.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and is being held at north London police station.

Police said he is believed to be 21.
