Gardai investigating a fatal crash in Co Longford last night are appealing for witnesses.

A 27-year-old man died when the car he was driving hit a pole in Legan village at 11.10pm.

A 22-year-old male passenger was rushed to Tullamore Hospital, for injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

Gardaí are asking anyone who saw the crash, or who saw the black Toyota Avensis with a 99 SO registration before the collision, to contact them at Edgeworthstown.
