A man has been arrested after gardaí seized cannabis with an estimated street value of €80,000 in Roscommon.

More than 100 cannabis plants were found during the planned search at a house near Castlerea yesterday evening. The search was part of an ongoing operation in the Roscommon / Longford areas in which gardaí are targeting the cultivation of cannabis. 

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He is being questioned at Roscommon Garda Station. He can be held for up to 24 hours. 

Gardaí say a technical examination of the scene is continuing and the investigation is ongoing.
