Two men are due before the Special Criminal Court this morning charged in connection with dissident republican activity.
On Wednesday four men in their 20s and 60s were arrested in Louth and Wexford after a number searches were carried out in which pipe bombs, a firearm and other ammunition were discovered.
They were being held on suspicion of directing terrorism and membership of an unlawful organisation.
Two other men arrested have been released without charge.
In a seperate incident a man in his twenties is due before the Special Criminal Court charged in connection with the discovery of a firearm in Leitrim.
Also on Wednesday gardaí stopped a car on the road to Blacklion in Cavan and found a pistol and two pipe bombs.
A second man, also in his 20s has been released without charge - a file is being prepared for the DPP.
