A man (34) is critically ill in hospital after being hit by a car in Co Down.

It happened on the Glenavy Road in Moira, close to the railway halt, at around 2:40am this morning.

The road is currently closed to traffic.

The PSNI is asking that anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was in the area at the time, to come forward.
