Tributes are being paid after one of Irish motorsport's most famous doctors has died in a crash.
Dr. John Hinds was one of the 'flying doctors' who follow racers in case of accident - and was providing medical cover at the Skerries road races in Dublin last night when he was involved in an incident.
The Health and Safety Authority has been made aware of it - while Gardaí are treating it as a sudden death.
Hinds was outspoken in his support of the introduction of an air ambulance service in Northern Ireland.
According to the BBC, TUV MLA Jim Allister offered his condolences to Hinds' family and hopes that his plans will be brought to fruition
"I do hope as a lasting tribute to him, the government will now push ahead with his ambition to have a proper air ambulance service for Northern Ireland.
"It would be very fitting for Dr Hinds," he said.
