A man is due in court today in connection with an alleged serious assault in St Stephen's Green in Dublin
The attack, which happened at approximately 3.30pm on Monday in the busy city centre park, was reported to be the second in the area in less than 12 hours.
Pat Flynn came upon the attack and he spoke to Jonathan Healy on Newstalk Lunchtime this afternoon about the incident.
"I ran into the park, I heard the screams," Pat explained. "The man started roaring at her, she was trying to get away from him. I gave him a bang with my stick and she got away from him then.
"From being a kid playing in [Stephen's Green], I've never encountered [something like this]," he added.
Pat told Jonathan, "it won't be long before somebody is killed in that park... You couldn't leave anybody there to be safe."
