The former RTÉ journalist and presenter of Prime Time started his company at the height of Ireland’s recession.
In 2014, Mr Little sold the company to News Corp which is owned by Rupert Murdoch for €18million.
In a blog post on the Storyful website the former Prime Time presenter announced his decision.
He said: “I have decided to leave Storyful, the company I founded a little over five years ago. It’s not an easy decision but it’s a good one. And most importantly, it’s my decision alone.
“Storyful was an unlikely story from the beginning. I founded the company because I wanted to prove that the eternal values of quality journalism mattered more than ever in the age of social media. And I was determined to prove that the very best journalism is still a great business model.”

The former RTE reporter added that he has no idea what he will do next but he is very excited about the journey ahead.
“I’m exhilarated by what might come next. But as I look back, I am also profoundly grateful today to all the idealists who made Storyful a reality.
“No matter where I go, my proudest professional boast will be that I built the team that built Storyful, an idea that has grown so much bigger than any one person.” he added
