The National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) looks set to appear before the Public Accounts Committee, in relation to allegations made by Deputy Mick Wallace in the Dáil about it's Northern Ireland property loan portfolio.

Mick Wallace's allegations - that a Northern Ireland politician stood to benefit from the sale of the portfolio - have led to calls on both sides of the border for independent inquiries.

Deputy Wallace alleged that an audit of Belfast legal firm Tughans found stg£7m (€9.83m) of funds in an Isle of Man account, which was "earmarked for a Northern Ireland politician".

NAMA has been in touch with the PAC to say it would welcome the opportunity to answer questions about the deal, known as 'Project Eagle'.

In Stormont, the assembly Finance Committee is to hold urgent meetings to look into the matter.

Minister of State for Finance Simon Harris told Newstalk Lunchtime the PAC should investigate the matter as soon as possible.

Daithí McKay is a Sinn Féin MLA for North Antrim and chair of the Finance Committee.

He told Newstalk Breakfast this matter is being taken very seriously.
