New charges have been brought against a Dublin man, allegedly caught red handed with a sword outside Leinster House.

Jordan Buckley of Kells Road in Crumlin is accused of trespassing on the grounds with the blade back in April.

Mr Buckley (19) is accused of being armed with a sword in the front yard of Leinster House on April 29th.

On that date, it is alleged that he somehow made his way past the plinth with the blade at around 4:30pm before being tackled by gardaí.

The House was not sitting that day - but members of the Dáil and members of the public were in the area.

Mr Buckley was originally charged with just one offence of possession of a weapon - but the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has decided to bring three new charges.

They include trespassing with an offensive weapon, trespassing with intent to cause fear and resisting arrest.

The charges will be dealt with at District Court level. The unemployed teenager was remanded on bail to appear in court again on October 22nd.

He is due to enter a plea or seek a hearing on that date.
