Some 200 new jobs are to be created in offices around the country by financial services firm, Acorn Life.

Approximately 125 new roles will be filled this year, with recruitment already underway to fill a further 75.

This will see its car and home insurance division double in size by 2016.

The positions include roles in IT, financial advisory, admin, mortgage advisors, recruitment consultants and marketing professionals.

The group has bases in Galway, Sligo and Leopardstown Business Park in Dublin.

It also has offices in Meath, Tipperary, Kerry and Cork.

Keith Butler, sales director with Acorn Life, said: "Last year was a very successful one for Acorn Life - with business levels up 50%."

"Acorn Insurance, which we launched in 2013, has seen significant growth in terms of business volumes and consequentially staff numbers have also grown significantly," he added.

More details about the positions can be found on the company's website.
