Offaly have come out of the traps in an explosive manner in this year’s championship, stunning Kilkenny and leading 2-6 to 0-11 at half-time in Tullamore.

Colin Egan got Offaly’s first goal early on, and that was soon added to by a Joe Bergin blast into the Cats’ net.

Kilkenny pulled two points back at the end of the half to narrow the gap to one point.
