An emergency High Court order has been issued allowing gardaí remain in a hospital while a teenage boy in secured care receives medical treatment.

The teenager, described by Health Service Executive (HSE) lawyers as being at the higher end of the spectrum for disturbed children, has twice absconded from hospital since being brought there yesterday.

Gardaí are currently looking for him.

The court heard he is likely to be found relatively quickly.

He has a serious medical history and once back in hospital he is to receive a scan to establish if his condition requires immediate intervention.
