38-year-old Bryce Dion was shot and killed while filming on the hit reality television show 'Cops'.

Mr Dion died along with the robbery suspect who was also shot by police.

The suspect was armed with a pellet gun which police thought was a real weapon. The suspect, Cortez Washington, fired from the pellet gun and the Omaha police officers returned fire, killing him.

Mr Dion was wearing a bulletproof vest, but a single bullet entered his chest through a gap in the vest, authorities have said.

Show producers stated that all of the crew have been fully trained and always wear bullet proof vests to prevent this kind of incident happening.

They also said that the rest of the crew are undergoing counselling as they are traumatised by what has happened.

The production company have said this was the first time one of their crew members had been fatally shot during filming.
