The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has warned of a text message scam that aims to gain personal information, including bank details, from victims.

The scam involves texts purporting to be from the RSA’s National Driver Licence Service (NDLS). The messages contain a link to a website requesting personal and banking information. The website (see below) contains a form carrying the NDLS logo that requires various items of personal information.

The RSA advises anyone who receives the message to delete it and contact their bank or credit card company immediately.

The RSA have tonight said they never send unsolicited texts asking for people’s personal information. The only text the RSA sends is to remind people of appointment times at NDLS centres.

The RSA say they are: “now liaising with the Gardai and the Competition & Consumer Protection Commission over these text messages.”
