Today marks two years since 1,134 garment workers died in a factory collapse in Bangladesh. It was the worst industrial accident to ever hit the garment industry.

Since the devastating tragedy, more than €36m has been raised by clothing manufacturers in compensation for those who lost family members in the incident and those who have been left injured as a result.

The Clean Clothes Campaign says it is unbelievable that two years on from the Rana Plaza factory collapse survivors are still waiting for compensation.

It claims that despite the growing urgency, brands continue to postpone payments to the Rana Plaza Donors Trust Fund - or make payments that are clearly insufficient to close the €4.14m gap in funds necessary to ensure the survivors receive full and fair compensation.

Since the opening of the fund in January 2014, campaigners have argued that donations should reflect a company's ability to pay, the size of their relationship with Bangladesh and the extent of their relationship with Rana Plaza.

However it says nearly every brand linked to the Rana Plaza building has made insufficient donations while it claims have refused to disclose their donation.

Spokesperson for the Irish office of the Clean Clothes Campaign is Kate Nolan.

She says conditions have significantly improved since the devastating collapse.
