An Irishman in Sydney has been fined after getting stuck in an air vent while trying to sneak back into a nightclub he'd been thrown out of twice.

According to the Irish Independent, the 18 year old, who's on a one year working visa, had to be rescued after he became trapped in the roof of the Sin City club last night.

The man, who has not been named, has been charged with entering a premises after being refused entry, attempting to enter a premises after being refused entry, wilful damage and trespass, according to the Independent.

He was fined $900 and ordered to pay $1,700 towards damage to the roof and a non-essential call out of the emergency services.

In a statement a police spokesperson said: “Police will allege that the man became wedged in the roof cavity while trying to gain unauthorised access to the club after he was refused entry by door security.

“Damage was caused to a glass door and the plaster board of the roof during the incident.

“Emergency services attended to free him, before he was arrested by police.”

His actions were described as 'remarkably stupid' by the judge.
