Samir Nasri had recently admitted that he expected to be left out of the World Cup and today that has come to pass.
The Manchester City midfielder was ignored by France manager Didier Deschamps in his 23-man squad for this summer's tournament.
The surprise choice was Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as a standby. The 24-year-old has never been capped by Les Blues.

Italy also named their 30-man extended squad which saw Parma attacker Antonio Cassano make the cut. Former Manchester United striker Giuseppi Rossi was also deemed fit enough for inclusion in a squad that includes the usual suspects like Mario Balotelli, Andrea Pirlo, Daniele De Rossi and Gianluigi Buffon.
