Gardai in Co Cork are investigating a standoff with an armed man in Crookstown today that lasted for several hours.

A firearm was discharged from the house earlier today and Gardai were called early this afternoon. Armed gardai arrived at the scene and a media blackout was put in place.

This evening an elderly gentleman walked out of the house and spoke with Gardai.

Gardai have recovered two legally held guns from the house.

No arrests have been made and there were no injuries sustained during the incident. An investigation into the incident is continuing.
