The Irish Penal Reform Trust says it's concerned about reports of a TB outbreak in Irish prisons.

Yesterday, a report from the visiting committees to Cloverhill, Castlerea and the women's Dochas centre in Mountjoy raised concerns about overcrowding, staffing levels and the presence of tuberculosis.

The visiting committees found major concerns during visits carried out in 2012, according to reports published by Minister for Justice, Alan Shatter, yesterday.

It calls into question standards at Irish prisons, and raises questions about whethar they are fit for purpose.
